Fracture Fracturing

National Glass Centre, Sunderland:

2004      Group Show - Wheel and Edge

Waste stream glass; plasterboard; paint; steel frame

The fracture affects three sides of the white cube - breaking the walls, shattering the windows and slicing the frames. The architectonic heave of the roof is lifted 15 degrees on structural flowing glass squeezed between the column and massive steel beam. Glass weeps from cracks and faults in the surface.

The work explores the surfaces and geological depths of the structures around us, challenging the assumed meanings and psychological security which we invest in our constructed world.
