The installed birdboxes offer
the viewer the pleasure of both bird life and the embedded baroque
language built into the main building. The first pleasure perhaps a
metaphor for the change over time for the client and the second
an exuberant and less restrictive architectonic form to counter the
surrounding built form.
The emphasis of the particular
amongst the mass is a reality found within many societies. The gilt
finish has international recognition and adds a surreal lilt,
conferring historic - and very topical - value onto the commonplace,
or the potentially sidelined.
